I would like to introduce our new librarian, Señora Ordoñez (Zila) to all of our followers. Zila was born and raised in Chichicastenango, Guatemala. She is a trained teacher and advocate for children in her community. She is the perfect addition to our project because she understands and supports our mission whole heartedly. And she is familiar with the beliefs and customs of her community. She and her family are valued members of the community and I am truly honored to have her as a friend and a colleague. Zila enjoys being a mother to Tómas, she enjoys reading, teaching and cooking. Her favorite hobby is gardening and she grows beautiful flowers and plants.

Empowered Guatemala will be in Chichicastenango in early September to prepare our library for opening and for day to day operations. Zila will be our representative and librarian. Once the library is open for business we will be planning and carrying out lots of activities for kids, teens and even adults, young and old. Stay tuned!
